Item Database - Codex Divello

Codex Divello Icon #269476 This tattered book contains pages thick and unbendable, made of a material completely foreign to any known scanner. From the text upon its cover, it is called the Codex Divello, and would appear to be a companion to the Codex Clavis. Much like its predecessor, the words are often self-contradicting and confusing. All in all, it doesn't seem to be very reliable.
Verse 2: And in this chaos, the light shone bright, spilling forth within the young man's mind. He knew, then, that this was the alpha and the omega - The beginning and the end of all things. Ergo had set his path, and soon others would join him, searching for the singular vision.
Verse 11: The pact of The Eight was set - One will, one mind, one way. Their trials began swiftly, as The First set against their movement, seeking to bar their entry from what it had coveted. Eight times they fought, eight times they won, eight times The First retreated to its beginning. But in this darkness came sanctuary, and in sanctuary came their undoing.
Verse 29: The darkness moved against the Eight, overtaking them and their efforts, swarmed by the rage of The First. Ergo's vision faltered, and for the first time, they were alone.
Verse 40: His moment had arrived, taking him through the lid and within the well. His dream had been realized, and his purpose fulfilled. The Eight, in slumber, wept, for they alone knew the truth.
Verse 54: Merlin screamed among the lightning and fury, his voice ripping the ears of all. The second vein had been opened, and he knew his mission was lost. As the vein spread apart, birds died upon their roost, rivers drying in their beds, oceans receding and devoured by the storm.
Verse 94: Though they fought day and night, the remnants of The First kept them at bay, breaking every advance they made toward the Nightmare. Arthur himself met their front line, brought to his knees underneath the onslaught. But though he was broken, his head never bowed, sword and shield held aloft.
Verse 143: And thus Mordred split them asunder, his betrayal complete and The First reborn anew to their shattered world. Gawain was the first to weep, and for each tear shed a fountain sprung from the ground, cleansing the land below. On the shoulders of Merlin and Galahad was the blame laid, and forever would they be outcast from those whom they sought to protect.
Verse 178: Instantly, the light from his sword split the heavens, clouds parting as he rode toward the destroyer. Though he struck true, the damage had been done, the Fisher King splintering into each fragment. From one there was twenty, from twenty there was all.
Verse 221: And at once, the vision returned, the bright light replaced with the visage of Arthur, Ergo's eternal prophecy springing forth once more. And though his faithful looked upon him and smiled, Arthur showed no recognition nor cognizance of those who he had once held dear - He was, from then on, one and the same as The Fisher King.
Verse 238: Again, Ergo's vision had faltered, the eons having taken their toll on his sanity. Though the Eight had come, he could no longer recognize them, and instead pleaded for death. So the Eight set upon their eternal task, Ergo's form and mind remolded within their abilities. And once more, Ergo was whole.
