At higher levels you will need the skill of the kyr type 5 pistol , at ql 200+ the Dual wield cost is insane so if your going pistol around 150-180 then your gonna use a kyr eventually and JCGPP is expensive like this gun so good luck affording both named pistols w/o a credit card. never the less , the 10 bullet clip is compensated for by the 11sec FA recharge, a level 220 pistol soldier with the correct perks all chosen ect, the works... will be hitting easy 3k hits 5k crits and max burst/FA cap dmg which is 15k full auto and ive no clue what the burst cap is

Errr, ever heard of a MBS? High level pistol sols only EVER use this because of the FA on a pistol dude. Even at 220 you will NOT be hitting 5k crits with a JPGPP as the attack rating cap is 1000, so 1k maximum on high AC mobs seeing as its min damage is 200 =D

What some of you fail to realise is that even with the mbs at 1k the higher the skill rating, the more likely you will accually "hit" even if it dosent raise the max damage.

Pairing this with a type 5 machine pistol(yes SMG) will open you up for more perk damage(SMG mastery). Right now at lvl 211/11 ave hits with this with all perks are 1800ish normal...2500 crits...11 sec FA for ave of 11000-12000(highest so far is 13.8k) 7-8 sec bursts for 5400 and 7-8 sec fling for 1800ish.

With no perks I'm still hitting for 1100ish min and the FA dosent seem to be effected due to the FA calculation that is IMO borked ATM. Bursts and fling are still as fast.

Perks are SMG10/PU10/SF10/AILA10
And before you start spouting off on the "SPB is so much better" I have yet to be outdamaged by anyone at apf or mercs.
If you are going to be a cowboy soldier this is the "Best" and only option that allows for FA.

Yeah, not to mention the machine pistol does energy damage as does the jcgpp, so the arul sabas benefit both the pistols where as the energy pistol does radiation damage, so ... yah =)

Honestly i belive that SPB can OD Pistols, and i know i wont regret keeping my ol' faithful spb when LE is released =D

Sorry guys, i never thought, that i will say this, but this gun is the best for us (soldiers) Just to reflecting to Ephy, im 209 atm...have basic dmg like 1.2k every shot, and have 11 sec redharge on FA...i was stucked on SPB...i couldnt belive anything can better then SPB.....but it can, and i havent maxed pistol skil, nor smg (for kyr machine pistol...have a crap one atm)

With proper perking (special forces 10, smg 10, health 10 and either champion of nano 10 or some of your choice and some ai perks into powers in numbers ) and arul sabas the JPGPP/Kyr'ozch machine pistol type 5 soldier will OD a SPB at same level, and even some levels above it. The rebuilt blaster might be better tho, but that can take ages to get at the current state of things.

LE is out now, and I can't find any replacements for this fine gun, glad my 300m investment isn't for nothing :)

BTW, it's not that the weapons themselves (JPGPP/KMP) are amazingly better than an SPB, it's the MG/SMG perks... They are among the best in game, +200 Dmg for a longer time than Suppr Horde and a reliable stun too. I can see why fixers can do great DD :)

This maybe still however a very good option for apf10 soldier twinks due to fast FA recharge, coupled with (maybe) a Ofab Peregrine Mk6, or maybe even a CDR. o_0
The split damage type of going with either of those options (energy/proj or energ/fire) is still an issue, but not so much as for when one can get on higher ql sabas.
Also with aliens, min damage isnt such a big deal as it is with SL mobs, therefore the pistols (with burst/fling) + this with FA might give a soldier an advantage over the other soldiers using SPB at 150.

...well....thats my theory and I've rolled a soldier to test it out.
If it really doesn't work, I'll be sure to put you all out of your suspense/misery :)

This still is the best way for a DD sold to go :) just not used anymore due the shark does k dmg and also rocks pvp which this pistol doesnt.

The problem is getting on a decent ql KMP type 5.
SMG buffage for Soldiers isnt great at all :(
My little project is S10 ready now, and Im trying out some options, currently paired with CDR, for very nice results. Fast special recharge ftw :)
Once I get closer to 150 caps, I'll look at what the better option is.
ATM, I'm liking the idea of using the Diamondine Kick Pistol, with shotgun perks for more dmg again...and some nasty nasty crits.

My sold is currently 167. Has a 203 KMP5 offhand and dualed with this gun. 20secs FA. Whereas when I used an SPB was ~40ish secs.I get 2 FAs @ 11k damage while only 1 for the SPB @ 14-15k. This setup will surely OD SPB if you put effort into it. Im geared in full AI though. Helps to push the damage potential by a huge amount. IMO its worth it if you got the credits to spare.

Did some testing today. My 150 sol and an orgmate's 145 sol. We both have around the same 1.2kish FA skill, pretty decent setup, I'm JPGPP+KMP5 and he's SPB. It all came down to this: His FA cycle was ~42s, my FA cycle is ~22s. In short fights it came down pretty equal, but in longer fights I OD him badly.

Btw, in Inferno mishes on my fixer (216, KMP5 pair) I can regularly OD a Shark sol but having some real trouble keeping up with a pistollero sol.

Anyway, bottom line here: This + KMP5 + Knowing how to play = OD'ing any n00ber with a showerhead.

Well yes pistol/smg is still the best dd pvm but if you want to pvp at all its just not an option and shark mk 6 aint that far behind with proc running.

pistol/smg is decent for tl5 pvp too (lvl 165-170). although you have lower AR (1.6k self with pistol, 75 more with SMG) you have a larger alpha with a stun perk and can hotswap easily with a onehander for AS.

SPB is certainly less IP to spend on, which can be a big factor for leveling toons.

But yea, JPGPP/KMP5 and eventually upgraded Beast SMGs just blow Assault Rifle away.
