--For some reason all items which lock skills also say "add skill". It doesn't actually effect anything. It LOCKS bioment for 300s, and casts a heal. It also has a cool beam of light too I believe.

If AO Universe is correct ( http://www.ao-universe.com/main.php?site=knowledge&link=0&id=145 ) then alesicis is correct in saying it is 'an upgrade' -inasmuch as it is a better item- . The Holy Book of the Immortal is not required to obtain Teachings of the Immortal One; TotIO drops, ready to use, in Inner Sanctum.

Furthermore, as I understand it, locking and requiring Bio Met means that you cannot use both items. Once BM is locked, the other requires BM to use, and they both have 300 seconds downtime.

Therefore, as long as you are prepared to wait for TotIO, there is need to reroll a new doctor because you missed HBotI in the Temple o3W.

It seems the comment from 2007 was referring to how many items found in IS are similar (but better) than their ToTW counterparts, therefore, something you would upgrade to, not apply an upgrade to. Still a nice book either way.
