The cripple has never been "casted" on me, even if I gridded out quickly a lot of times ^^

That's because this doesn't actually happen. Same for the cripple from the other instameeps.

Try pressing the grid button at once when you log in, usually it lags out and you wont get gridded, now try to cast it again after filling some nano up and notice that it complains on your Nano Skills ^^

try sitting and using a nano recharger after casting grid but before zoning
