Item Database - Tagged Spider DNA sample

Tagged Spider DNA sample Icon #156494 This DNA sample from a Mutant Granite Spider seems to be tagged by a unique Xan protein that is attached to the DNA helix itself.
Analysis of the protein would indicate that it was some form of genetic marker used by the Xan to actually track and also affect the development of the host species. Rather then tagging the creatures with a physical object, they appear to have been able to insert this protein into a creature's DNA so that the marker would be passed down to future generations of the creature's offspring.
As well storing changes to the DNA this protein seems to be designed to also subdue certain pre-defined developmental changes in the host species. Jobe researchers have concluded that this must have been some attempt to control or alter the development of the host species with a view to making them more aggressive given the areas of the DNA they exert an influence on. Why this would be done remains a mystery.
